Is the 2022 Tacoma Trail Edition more off-road capable?
To start with, the Trail Edition model gets a lift in both the front and the rear. The front is raised by 1.1 inches and the rear has been lifted 0.5 inches. Ground clearance is important to an off-road truck and to that end, the front air dam has also been removed.

With these changes, the Tacoma Trail Edition improves the approach angle to 34 degrees and the departure angle to 23.6 degrees. Additionally, the break over angle has been improved to 26.4 degrees. The wheels will give you a track 0.5 inches wider and those wheels are of course fitted with aggressive Goodyear all-terrain tires.
Additional off-road upgrades include TRD Off-Road undercarriage skid plating to protect your truck’s precious innards. The rear differential has been replaced with a locking differential as well to help tackle those low-speed obstacles.
