After a lot of customer feedback, Toyota has dropped the Toyota Corolla iM hatchback model from their lineup in favor of the brand-new 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback. While the 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback isn't a far cry from the outgoing Corolla iM in terms of body style and cargo space, there are enough differences in the feature offerings and trims to warrant an entirely new model.
The 2019 Corolla Hatchback will offer a lot of the new features coming to the Toyota lineup for the 2019 model year including the TNGA platform, Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, and Apple CarPlay and Amazon Alexa compatibility. It's also one of the first 2019 Toyota models to hit Toyota dealerships and will be available soon in St. Louis, MO at the Ackerman Toyota dealership.
One of the main draws for the 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback is the increased cargo space and hauling versatility it provides over the traditional Corolla sedan. The 2019 Corolla sedan offers a competitive 13.2 cubic feet of space in the trunk for storage, but that space isn’t as flexible as the storage area in a hatchback with split-folding rear seats. The 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback offers 17.8 cubic feet of total cargo space that is versatile enough to move TVs and small pieces of furniture along with daily grocery runs and personal belongings.
In terms of fuel economy, the 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback is also sure to please. It offers 28 miles per gallon in city driving and 37 miles per gallon on the highway on base SE models with manual transmission. Models equipped with the continuously variable transmission system see even higher fuel ratings of up to 32 miles per gallon in city driving and 42 miles per gallon on the highway on the SE CVT trim.
