2019 Toyota Avalon vs 2018 Toyota Avalon

Split screen images of the 2019 Toyota Avalon and the 2018 Toyota Avalon

Full-size sedan shoppers love the Toyota Avalon for its roomy interiors and tech-savvy feature list complete with the Toyota Safety Sense suite of active safety as a standard feature on newer model years. If you are shopping at the dealership for a new Avalon, you will likely have the option of choosing the brand-new 2019 Toyota Avalon or the outgoing 2018 Toyota Avalon. So, which one should you choose?

It depends. Most drivers will be drawn to the new features and enhancements on the 2019 Toyota Avalon including Apple CarPlay and Amazon Alexa that help to make it one of the most tech-savvy vehicles in the Toyota lineup. Though, the updates have caused the starting price to jump up on the 2019 Avalon by about $2,000, so sedan shoppers on a tight budget may favor the 2018 Avalon for this reason.

2019 Toyota Avalon Pricing and Updates

The 2019 Toyota Avalon will see a slight price increase compared to outgoing models thanks to a complete refresh that added tons of feature additions and enhancements to the new model. The base XLE trim on the 2019 Avalon has a starting MSRP of $35,500 with higher trim levels moving up in price from there. Considering all of the sedan's enhancements, we think the starting price increase is more than fair.

For many of our customers, the most exciting addition to the 2019 Avalon is the Toyota Entune 3.0 system that brings the much-anticipated Apple CarPlay and Amazon Alexa systems to the Toyota lineup for the first time. With Apple CarPlay, drivers can easily connect their smartphone to their 2019 Avalon via a lighting cable that instantly provides access to music, podcasts, navigation and more while on the go. In addition to Apple CarPlay and Amazon Alexa, the 2019 Toyota Avalon will also be equipped with a new TNGA platform, available adaptive variable suspension, available engine sound enhancement, and more.
