4 Tips to Get Your Car Ready for Summer
Memorial Day kicks off the summer driving season. Summertime is when we are most likely to pack up the family and go on the great American road trip. With that in mind, here are 4 tips to get your car ready for summer.
Tires are just as important in summer as they are in winter. You’ll need to make sure you are checking tread depth and balance. It’s recommended that you rotate your tires every other oil change. Make sure none of your tires are under or over-inflated. And don’t forget about the spare. It needs to be in good shape too! Why not bring your car in for a tire rotation and balance?
Oil and Filters
We can’t overstate how important clean oil is for your safety. Oil’s function is to lubricate the engine and keep friction to a minimum. Summer can mean high heat and heavy driving, both of these are hard on oil. Make sure to replace your oil and filters regularly so that your car isn’t in danger of overheating this summer.
Fluid and Hose Check
Before you set out on your adventure, you want to make sure to check transmission fluid, power steering fluid and coolant. Pay close attention to the levels of the fluids. Also, it’s critical to check the condition of the hoses. Hoses can suffer from deterioration that eats away at the rubber from the inside.
Headlights, Belts and Wipers
Summer is also a great time to do overall maintenance on the car. Ask about having headlights, fan belts and filters checked, or even replaced.
